Peter Hanson wins BMW Masters in Shanghai!

Peter Hanson, representing Los Naranjos, held off a magnificent late charge from Rory McIlroy to claim the biggest win of his career at BMW Masters in Shanghai.

“It was a little bit tense”, admitted Peter after the round. “Rory made a tremendous effort with an eagle on 15 and birdie on 16, so it put quite a bit of pressure on me. I was trying to play a little bit safe the final holes, but having the World number One chasing, you can´t play too safe. This is of course by far the biggest win, and my biggest prize check (888.000 €) in my career. My putting has really improved, especially over the last year, and I think that´s the main reason I´m standing here with this beautiful trophy”, said Peter during the prize ceremony.

This was Peter´s sixth victory on European Tour, and he is now moving to 18th place in The Official World Golf Ranking and to second place in The Race to Dubai.

A brilliant second round by Peter Hanson gives him a two shots lead
over world number one Rory McIlroy in BMW Masters, Shanghai.

Peter started the BMW Masters in Shanghai with a solid 66, 6 under par, and followed up with a brilliant 64 the second day, now leading the Tournament by 2. Saturday Peter will play together with Rory McIlroy and Swedish friend Robert Karlsson. Robert returned a scorecard Friday with 8 birdies and 10 pars, for 64 and a total of 135, 5 behind Peter. “I can´t play much better from tee to green, and when the puts find the hole, I´m not surprised scoring low”, said Peter after the round Friday.

All friends at Los Naranjos wish Peter good luck in the weekend!

Peter Hanson winner again!

What a fantastic confidence boost now preparing for the Ryder Cup at Medinah”!

After a thrilling final round of the KLM Open at Hilversumsche GC in Holland, Peter claimed his fifth European Tour title with a stunning eagle on the 18th Sunday afternoon.

Peter was very close to withdraw from the event after his one year old son Tim was hospitalized with a virus Friday afternoon.

My wife Sanna convinced me to continue after receiving positive news on their son’s condition, and I’m so happy now, both for Tim who’s getting better and better, and of course for staying in the competition. The Saturday round was hard, but I managed to calm down a little bit in the evening when I heard Tim was OK. The key hole on Sunday was probably the 16th, where I pulled my drive into trouble left of the fairway. After having to drop the ball for an immovable obstruction, I managed to hit a 5 iron through a small gap in the trees leaving me a quite tricky chip shot which I rolled up close to the pin for a par. After that, I missed a short birdie put on the 17th but managed to eagle the par 5 18th hole after hitting a monster drive from tee and a 9 iron to the heart of the green”, commented Peter the exciting finish of his last event prior to the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah, Illinois, USA.

The Spaniard Larrazábal and the Scotsman Ramsay shared second place, 2 shots behind Peter.

Congrtulations, Peter!

Congratulations Peter! Brilliantly played!

Peter Hanson finished on a shared 7th place in the fourth major of the year – The US PGA Championship at Kiawah Island!

I played really well from tee to green, but again my putting let me down”, reported Peter Sunday evening. Rory McIlroy was outstanding and won be 8 shots. Peter completed the tournament with a one under par round for a total of 285, only 2 shots behind David Lynn on 2nd place. “I´m quite pleased with my result anyhow, now strengthening my chances to be one of the 12 players in the European Ryder Cup team in September”, continued Peter who played the final round with Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh, followed by a huge crowd.

Carl Pettersson finished on an excellent shared 3rd place, one shot better than Peter. Two Swedes in top ten! Well done!

“OK, but not more”, says Peter Hanson after finishing on shared 23rd place in The Open at Lytham & St Annes.

“Lytham & St Annes is a very special and very demanding golf course, and striking the ball with a lot of confidence I really thought I had a good chance to compete with the very best, starting with a 67, 3 under par the first day. Unfortunately I couldn’t keep the game together the way I wanted and needed and I did some costly mistakes. Double bogey on the 11th hole Saturday and a couple of bogeys Sunday is the difference between top 10 and the shared 23rd place where I finished. Disappointed? Yes of course, but I’m still quite happy with my ball striking”, reports Peter Sunday evening. Winner was Ernie Els, birdieing the 72nd hole beating Adam Scott with 1. Best Swedish player: Alexander Norén on 9th place, 280 for the tournament, 2 better than Peter.

Peter is now going to spend a few days in Sweden, practising for WGC Akron in Ohio first week of August, followed by US Pga Championship the 9-12 August.

Solid start for Peter Hanson in The Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

“I’m quite happy with my game so far”, says Peter after the second round of The Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes. “I didn’t play the Scottish Open last week, using the free time practising at PGA National in Sweden, concentrating on my ball striking, and all the hours on the range have absolutely paid off. Having moved the ball a fraction to the right in my stance, I’m now again hitting the ball the way I want, which is so vitally important especially on this golf course with more than 200 bunkers”, continues Peter, who started Thursday with 67, 3 under par, and 72 today Friday, for a total score of 1 under. In the beginning of the second round, Peter was 4 under par having birdied the first hole, but made after that a couple of unfortunate three puts on the front nine.

Good luck Peter in the weekend!

No success for Peter Hanson in U.S. Open. “The golf course is brutal!”

Peter Hanson was well prepared for the U.S. Open at Olympic in San Fransisco after his shared 3rd place in Nordea Masters in Stockholm the previous week. “Yes, I really felt confident when hitting my teeshot on the first hole Thursday, but unfortunately almost everything from there went the wrong way and I was 9 over par after 10 holes, a nightmare. I birdied a couple of holes on the back nine and had a good start Friday, starting from hole 10, and managed to make a couple of birdies but lost everything again playing the front nine. Normally my ironshots are the best part of my game, but I missed too many greens when trying to attack the pin to make the cut. And missing the green means too often a bogey in the score card on this brutally difficult golf course. Now I´ll have a few days off in Sweden with my family, before starting the preparations for the French Open, July 5-8”.

Peter Hanson finished on shared 3rd place in Nordea Masters at Bro Hof in Sweden

“Boosted my confidence playing U.S. Open this week!”

Peter Hanson didn’t manage to win the European tour event Nordea Masters at Bro Hof GC in Sweden, finishing on 3rd place, -13, together with Sergio García and Mikko Ilonen. Outstanding winner was Lee Westwood, -19, and runner up was Ross Fischer, -15. Peter started the final round with an eagle but double bogeyed the 15th when chasing Westwood and dropped from a runner up position to 3rd place. “I’m quite happy with my game and the competition anyhow”, says Peter now focusing on U.S. Open at Olympic Club in San Francisco, California. “Yes, this was exactly the answer I needed when now preparing for the U.S. Open. “If I manage to repeat my solid game from Stockholm, and with some luck on the greens, I feel I have a good chance to challenge the very best – and they are all there! – at Olympic”, says Peter.

U.S. Open starts Thursday this week and Peter is playing the first two days with Francesco Molinari and B. Van Pelt.

Good luck Peter from all friends at Los Naranjos!
